Bad roads? Post it on Fix My Street' app

Citizens can directly lodge their complaints and get them resolved.

BENGALURU: To change the way citizens report their problems and get them addressed, Mayor Sampath Raj on Monday released an Android app, “Fix My Street”, through which residents can click photos and send geographic location of civic problems, be it potholes, non-functioning streetlights, uncollected garbage, etc. The official concerned will take action in a time-bound manner and will acknowledge the action taken. After launching the app, Mr Raj said, “Earlier for any civic complaint, citizens had to call the BBMP control room and lodge their complaints. Then the complaints were forwarded to the zonal offices concerned, from there to the ward level officials. But with this app, citizens can directly lodge their complaints and get them resolved.”

For garbage-related issues, the deadline to address the complaint is 24 hours. For problems with streetlights, the time given is two days and if the issue is related to potholes, it has to done in seven days, he said. If the official concerned cannot resolve the problem within the stipulated time, he has to let the citizen know the reason, he explained.

Immediately after the complaint is raised, the official concerned will get a message. He has to acknowledge the complaint with the action he has taken, he said.

The app is not only for issues related to BBMP. Residents can raise complaints related to other departments too, like the BWSSB and Bescom.

Apart from the engineer concerned, the problem will come to the notice of the ward corporator and senior engineers too, Mr Raj said.

BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad said disciplinary action will be taken against the official if he fails to resolve the problem within the given timeframe.
