Telangana: Hearing on Muslim quota from December 14
Hyderabad: The Telangana state Commission for Backward Classes will hold a public hearing on Muslim reservations in the state from December 14 to 17.
The hearing will be conducted at the commission’s office located in 4th Floor, Metro Water Works building, Khairatabad, from 11 am to 5 pm every day.
The commission stated that individuals, advocates and professionals, social organisations, and political parties can present their arguments before it.
The hearings will be based on the reports on Muslim reservations submitted by the Ranganath Misra committee, Rajinder Sachar committee and the G. Sudheer Commission.
The representations can be submitted either orally or in writing in six copies.
Apart from English and Telugu, BC commission member Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan said people can send in their representations in Urdu, Arabic, and Persian languages.
The commission has engaged translators for this purpose. At present, Muslims have a four per cent quota under the BC-E category and the government wants to increase it to 10 per cent.
