Telangana Group-2 post tests to turn descriptive
HYDERABAD: Candidates aspiring for Telangana Group-2 posts have to put in extra efforts as the government plans to bring in descriptive question paper to assess their capabilities.
Currently, the Group-2 test comprised only of objective questions, where candidates have to just choose the correct answer from multiple choices already provided for the question.
Descriptive format, however, would require a candidate to study the subject thoroughly. It will test candidate’s analytical abilities, knowledge and command over different subjects.
The objective behind this reform is to ensure the best talent is selected for the post. Group-2 and Group-1 posts are the most key positions in the running of the state administration, especially in districts.
“The persons selected to Group-2 posts will be at the helm of affairs or are holding key positions in districts after a few years of service. They need to be very proactive in decision-making and should have leadership and managerial skills to get the best out of the staff working under them. Objective format alone is not enough to test the skills of the candidates. Hence, it was decided to introduce the descriptive part which will test the expressive and writing abilities of the candidates,” an official said.
Coaching expert Mohammed Riaz welcomed the inclusion of descriptive format for Group-2 exam. “The three doma-ins of learning — cognitive, affective and psychomotor — can be guaged with descriptive tests. Objective test sho-uld be held to filter candidates and they should be made to write des-criptive paper so that the talented lot gets through,” he said.
