Rahul Gandhi's remark kiddish, immature: Venkaiah Naidu
Kalaburagi: Union Minister for Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu termed as ‘kiddish and immature’ AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s statement that there would be an earthquake if he was allowed to speak on the demonetisation issue in Parliament.
During an interaction with this newspaper Mr Naidu sarcastically asked: “Has he (Rahul) has gone to Meghalaya where the earthquake took place today?” Mr Naidu, who was here to take part in “Kalyana Karnataka Vikas Yatre” organised by Kottala Basaveshwara Shikshana Samsthe went on ask, “Who has prevented him (Mr Rahul) from speaking in the Lok Sabha? It’s known to everybody that he comes to the Lok Sabha on a vacation. And because of his speeches the Congress has been shrinking in size. The party which many times had over 350 members has now a pitiable strength of 44. The major credit for bringing the Congress to this state should go to Mr Rahul. First let him take care of his party before thinking of causing an earthquake in Parliament”.
While defending the decision of PM Modi on demonetization as a revolutionary step, Mr Naidu came down on the Opposition for ‘willfully obstructing’ proceedings in Lok Sabha. “When a chemotherapy is given for cancer afflicting the country’s economy, there is bound to be some pain. But after some time the pain will subside and the patient would be cured”. Earlier speaking at the function, Mr Naidu called upon people to lend r support to the “Modi (Making of Developed India ) Abhiyaan” aimed at cleanising the country of black money and corruption.
