Rs 1 crore -worth jewels stolen from realtor

Hyderabad: Thieves stole diamond and gold ornaments worth Rs 1 crore from the residence of a realtor in Abids on Saturday night. The prime suspect is the domestic help.

Police sources identified the victim as Sunil Kumar Agarwal, a resident of Fateh Sultan lane near Abids.

 

According to the police, when Mr Agarwal and his family had gone to attend a function on Saturday night. 

It is suspected that a Nepali couple that was working in Mr Agarwal’s residence and living in the outhouse broke into the house and stole the ornaments some time between 9 pm and midnight.

Mr G. Biksham Reddy, assistant commissioner of police, Abids, said, “The couple migrated to Hyderabad in search of livelihood and joined as servants in Mr Agarwal’s house two months ago. Taking advantage of the absence of the residents, they stole Rs 70 lakh diamond ornaments and Rs 29 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments.”

He said that CCTV cameras had been installed in Mr Agarwal’s house but the domestic helps stole the recorder and took it with them. Police has registered a case of theft and is hunting for the couple.
