Maulana Azad National Urdu University varsity VC says he's barred
Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Chancellor Firoz Bakht Ahmed has refused to participate in the seventh convocation of the varsity, to be held on November 20.
He alleged various irregularities in the running of the university and instances of misfeasance due to which he refused to be part of the convocation.
He also alleged that his entry was prohibited in the campus by the administration.
In a letter to Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar, Mr Bakht stated, “It is with a very heavy heart that I have been constrained to take the sad decision of refusing to participate in the 2018 Convocation of Manuu. This well considered decision has been taken by me, guided by my conscience, because I cannot be a party to the various irregularities, instances of misfeasance and malfeasance, misconducts, nepotism, authoritarianism and fascism being perpetuated by the Manuu officials.”
“Corrective measures and suggestions made by me were treated as motivated and were rebutted. I am afraid my participation in the said function may amount to an implied acquiescence of the illegalities and lack of probity by certain officials of MANUU. My entry is already prohibited in the campus. How can I sit beside such vicious people, to give away degrees,” he further added in the letter.
