Hyderabad: A year after, MFC staff fail to get hike

Most faculty are still being paid about Rs 8,000 while a few get Rs 15,000. Librarians are being paid Rs 7,000.

Hyderabad: The remuneration of employees working in computer centres and libraries run by the Minorities Finance Corporation has not been hiked even a year after the government cleared it.

The Urdu Academy started Urdu computer training centres (CTC) and libraries across the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. After bifurcation, Telangana state was left with 43 CTCs and 30 libraries running under the administration of the Urdu Academy.

In 2016, the government merged the CTCs and libraries and transferred them to the Minorities Finance Corporation (MFC).

These centres have 167 employees in three categories faculty, librarian and office subordinate. The minorities welfare department issued certain guidelines (memo no. 4305/ESTT-II/A1/2017 dated November 11, 2017) fixing the remuneration of the employees in compliance with GO MS No. 14 dated February 2, 2016.

A year after the memo was passed, the staff is not getting the enhanced remuneration. The memo graded the faculty as computer operator and their pay fixed at Rs 17,500 per month. Librarians were to be paid Rs 15,000 and office subordinates Rs 12,000. Most faculty are still being paid about Rs 8,000 while a few get Rs 15,000. Librarians are being paid Rs 7,000 and office subordinates Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000.

Employees said they were requesting officials to implement the GO but in vain.

Asked about the issue, minorities finance corporation M.A. Waheed said a proposal had been sent to the finance department which had returned it proposal with a few queries. “We have submitted the details but the file has not been cleared by the finance department. Once we got permission, we will enhance the amount,” Mr Waheed said.
