Telangana: IT firms told to get arms licences
HYDERABAD: It is not about being fearful, but being ready to react in appropriate manner when it comes to safety especially in IT companies. Companies have arms licenses, considering the security of the employees. Society of Cyberabad Security Council in association with the Cyberabad police conducts arms display and knowledge session every other month.
“We educate companies, management and security guards on the latest weapons. The safety of IT companies is crucial and it is equally important for the security personnel to be aware of the kind of weapons being used by the assailant, so that they can inform the police precisely,” said SCSC secretary A. Bharani Kumar. IT companies often outsource security duties to service providers, but they are responsible for procuring the arms licences.
The SCSC has been encouraging IT companies to get the arms licences as a proactive safety measure. There has been increase in number of companies securing the licences. Most of the security heads in the IT department are from defence or ex-policemen, and they are well-versed with use of modern weapons.
