Hyderabad: Ponnapula Sanjeeva Prasad alias Goldstone Prasad, prime accused in the Miyapur land scam, denied leaving the city, and said that he has been cooperating with Income-Tax officials during the raids on his residences and offices. He claimed that all the investments in his companies are accounted for and he is one of the highest taxpayers in the country.
Mr Prasad also claimed that IT officials have found only Rs 20,000 during the three-day raid. Mr Prasad said that there were cases against him in the US. However, he was acquitted due to lack of evidence. About the Miyapur land scam, Mr Prasad said that the matter was pending in the Supreme Court and the original owners approa-ched him seeking advice.
“There was no land encroachment anywhere by me or my companies. All the land deals are clearly documented and all the investments are clean. Let the Supreme Court decide on the status of the land and we will abide by the order,” said Mr Prasad. He said that he had no interests in the companies raided by I-T officials. However, the family members have shares in those companies, he added. Denying the reports that he ran away during the raids, he said, “I was with them and did not run away and fully cooperated with them.” he noted.
