C.R. Vijay Kumar, a resident, said, “Mallikarjunanagar always witnesses monsoon miseries. Road No. 2 suffers from overflowing drainage. Rainwater mixed with sewerage flows from nearby hilltop and nalas of different colonies. We asked the GHMC to divert the drainage and rainwater network and also increase the diameter of the pipe, since the present line is insufficient.”

“Following the petitions, laying of drainage pipes started on Road No. 2. However, only 10 per cent of the work has been completed. The overflowing of sewage creates foul smell, affecting health. We wrote to the municipal minister, GHMC, Chief Minister, Governor, local corporator and MLA. However, nothing has happened,” added Naveen Joseph Kumar, another resident.

The residents also contacted the contractor. However, that did not help. In one of their pleas the residents wrote, “Please show some mercy to us.” When contacted, Mr. Nagender, assistant engineer, Gowtham Nagar circle, said, “The area has been surveyed. The contractor will be directed to speed up the project.”
