K Chandrasekhar Rao releases coffee table book on Hyderabad police
HYDERABAD: A coffee table book, Journey of the Hyderabad City Police, written by well-known writer Noopur Kumar was released by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday. The book contains oil paintings explaining the journey made by the police from patrolling on bicycles to having closed circuit cameras.
The book has details about the police set-up in the old times, the Kotwal system during the Qutub Shahi regime, the police network during the Nizams’ rule, the Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb and great personalities in the police. It includes changes that were brought in the traffic management and new challenges. Mr Rao congratulated Ms Kumar for bringing out the book. Additional DGP Anjani Kumar supervised the production of the book. Outgoing DGP Anurag Sharma, his successor M. Mahendar Reddy, and chief advisor Rajiv Sharma participated in the programme.
Mr Mahendar Reddy and the Mr Sharma, appointed adviser on internal security, met and thanked him for the appointments. Mr Rao congratulated the officials.
The CM has decided to hold a farewell meeting for Mr Sharma, the first DGP of the Telangana state on Tuesday at Pragati Bhavan. Mr Sharma retires on Sunday.
