Forwards about Metro Rail: Not all messages sent by Metro Rail
Hyderabad: Forwards about Metro Rail are buzzing on social messaging sites, but not all of them are being sent by the operators of the transport system. A recent message on WhatApp said the pre-booking amount for a Metro Rail Smart Card would cost Rs 200 with Rs 100 as the deposit. The recharge will be limited to Rs 2,000. An official of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) stated that the fares have not been finalised.
Officials manning the social media cell of HMRL and L&T Metro Rail Limited (L&TMRL) said that they were putting up general terms and conditions and the-re are no specific details being shared. The L&TMRL website states that people have to follow the directions which will be announced at the stations and the signage in English, Urdu and Telugu. The mascot, NIZ will be at at hand, giving people general instructions on safe travel.
A senior officer said, “Our major worry is that people must get inside the train in time before the doors close. There security personnel to monitor the passengers. There are camera’s at every point which will give an idea of the number of passengers on the platforms.” Messages about maintaining cleanliness, co-operating with security personnel and Metro staff are being sent over social media so that people are made aware that they have to travel responsibly. Squatting on the platform or in the train will not be permitted. An officer explained, “We want the people to understand that discipline is to be maintained like they do at airports.” The same principle applies here too.”
