Andhra Pradesh: Minority women earn Rs 10,000 monthly

The Guntur district administration celebrated National Education Day and Minorities Welfare Day on the occasion of Azad birth anniversary.

Guntur: Guntur district collector K. Sasidhar asked minority students to make good use of the scholarships to acquire higher education to get settled in their lives during Moulana Abul Kalam Azad birth anniversary celebration in Zilla Parishad at Guntur on Saturday. The Guntur district administration celebrated National Education Day and Minorities Welfare Day on the occasion of Azad birth anniversary. Addressing the students, he said that Azad was a secular leader who opposed division of the country based on religion.

He said that Rs 84 crore worth scholarships were offered to 44,000 students in the past three years and asked students to get good higher education taking Azad as a role model and appealed to the minority women to make good use of skill development programmes to earn Rs 10,000 per month income.

MLC AS Ramakrishna, Guntur west MLA M Venugopala Reddy, nominated MLA Philip C Tocher, Guntur ZP chairperson Sk Johny Moon, district minorities welfare officer Sk Ashiri and others participated in the programme. Mr Sasidhar presented cheques to the beneficiaries of Dulhan and minority overseas education scheme on the occasion.

In a separate programme Muslim United Front and Muslim Welfare Joint Action Committee felicitated Jain High School correspondent Md Munnu during the Azad birth anniversary programme at Sangadigunta of Guntur. President of MUF Md Kaleem said that Mr Munnu arduously working for the spread of education among the minorities taking inspiration from Bharata Ratna Azad.
