Chennai: The chairman of Apollo Hospitals on Saturday said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is fine and that’s it is up to her to decide when she wants to get discharged from the hospital.

According to reports, the AIADMK chief’s lung infection is now fully under control and she can leave when she deems it fit.

"Jayalalithaa's infection is fully under control. She can go whenever she feels fit. Her discharge depends upon her. There is no fixed date. She has to reinvigorate herself to go back. What's required is recuperation. The team working towards that," Dr Prathap C Reddy said.

The 68-year-old leader was admitted to the corporate hospital on September 22, after she complained of fever and dehydration.

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister O Panneerselvam has taken over Jayalalithaa’s portfolios while she remains in hospital.

The AIADMK top brass has refused to release photos of the ailing CM despite pleas from DMK chief M Karunanidhi. A number of top politicians and celebrities have so far visited Apollo Hospital, but have not been able to meet Jayalalithaa.

According to Apollo, a team of specialists like cardiologists, respiratory physicians, consultants for infectious diseases, diabetologist and endocrinologist was treating Jayalalithaa.
