India-UK collaboration in Amaravati building stressed
Vijayawada: Participating in an interactive session in Vijayawada on UK smart city capability and expertise to support Amaravati, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasised the importance of India-UK collaboration in the development of the new capital city. The session was organised by the British High Commission, Hyderabad on Friday.
Mr Naidu urged the UK government to make use of the opportunities presented by Amaravati and other smart cities of AP.
Andrew McAllister, British Deputy High Commissioner, Hyderabad, gave an overview of the UK government’s ongoing projects in Amaravati. He repeated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message that India and UK were an unbeatable combination.
A delegation of three Parliamentarians from UK’s Commonwealth Parliamentary Associ-ation - Virendra Sharma, Nusrat Ghani and Lord Rana, MBE - attended the event.
The CM said that he visited the UK in March 2016 and focused international attention on Amaravati, which was declared one of the three cities that the UK will support in smart technologies.
The UK will set up eight Indo-UK hospitals with headquarters in Amaravati for which the Indian Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone soon.
