British expertise for AP capital important: Chandrababu Naidu
Vijayawada: Participating in an interactive session in Vijayawada on UK smart city capability and expertise to support Amaravati, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu emphasised the importance of India-UK collaboration in the development of the new capital city.
The session was organised by the British High Commission, Hyderabad on Friday. Mr Naidu urged the UK government to make use of the opportunities presented by Amaravati and other smart cities of AP.
Andrew McAllister, British Deputy High Commissioner, Hyderabad, gave an overview of the UK government’s ongoing projects in Amaravati. He repeated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message that India and UK were an unbeatable combination.
The CM said that he visited the UK in March 2016 and focused international attention on Amaravati, which was declared one of the three cities that the UK will support in smart technologies.
The UK will set up eight Indo-UK hospitals with headquarters in Amaravati for which the Indian Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone soon.
Stating that developing Amaravati is a rare opportunity, the CM appealed to the British delegation to make use of the opportunity to develop the new capital.
The interactive session consisted of a series of presentations and videos to showcase cutting edge smart city technologies from the UK. UK expertise was demonstrated by British Standard Institute, Arup, PWC and GAIST.
APCRDA Additional Commissioner V. Rama Manohar Rao spoke about the vision of Amaravati and the opportunities that unfold as the city is on the smart city development path.
