Anantapur: Israel helping to boost pomegranate yield

Presently, Israel fruits are imported to Dubai, Halland, Germany and other countries.

Anantapur: Israel-based Hai R&D Projects Limited company came forward to establish centre of excellence in Anantapur district to provide Israel technology in pomegranate production.

By providing advanced technology on growing of pomegranate against virus and other pests, each fruit could be grown more than a kilo gram, the Israel-based company managing director David Mijrachi briefed.

The company managing director had interaction with the collector Kona Sasidhar about the successful research activities being used in Israel which was rain deficit country.

As the state government introduced farmer producer organisation by inviting MoUs with multinational companies to improve market facilities for the farmers, the collector said the Israel-based company came forward to provide advanced technology for the farmers.

Managing director Mijrachi and director of Jupiter Strategic Management Sollutions Pvt Ltd Krishna Kishore during their interaction with the collector briefed about the similar climatic conditions with rain deficit in Israel, but farmers able to produce high quality of horticulture produces.

The company managing director announced they would establish a training centre -R&D Centre of Excellence to provide skill based training in pest control, high yield, processing, packaging and marketing to other countries.

Presently, Israel fruits are imported to Dubai, Halland, Germany and other countries. The Collector said about 5,400 hectares of pomegranate orchards existed in Anantapur alone.
