Hyderabad: People returning to Hyderabad after the Dasara holidays are struggling with the lack of proper transport in the early hours, as many of the long distance private travel buses arrive then. Even the metro becomes operational only after 6 am at many stations.
“The bus has dropped us at around 4.30 am and there was no alternate mode of transportation available. Earlier, at least by 5 am we used to have RTC buses running, but now I had to wait up to 6.30 an for the metro to start at Dilsukhnagar,” said Mr Sai Vikas, a student who returned to Hyderabad to resume his coaching after the Dasara holidays from Vijayawada.
There are thousands of people who are on their return trip as the holidays for many schools have already ended on Thursday. Many long distance buses, usually coming from Bangalore, Mumbai, Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam would halt at Lingampalli, L.B. Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, Gachibowli, Miyapur and other areas in the city. With the ongoing TSRTC strike, there are not many city buses plying during the early hours due to the non-availability of private drivers and conductors, according to RTC officials.
Though some of these areas are connected by metro, metro services start at different timings in different stations and not before 6 am in the morning in any case.
