Imaging a food waste processor using food waste from 8 kg to 250 kg per day produces electricity or a mop fitted with a 1 liter bottle to hold water which can be sprayed as you mop or a washing machine that can wash vegetables of their poisonous pesticides. All these and more are on display at the 9th edition of HotelTech Kerala 2019 which was inaugurated in Kochi yesterday recently. Held at the KTDC Event Centre in Bolgatty, HotelTech showcases almost all things required for a hotel or restaurant including hotel supplies, hotelware & tableware, equipment for hotels and restaurants, cleaning equipment & services, linen and furnishing products, food & beverages and other services. The show, which will conclude on Saturday, was inaugurated by G. Gopinathan, President Association of Approval & Classified Hotels of Kerala (AACHK) in the presence of Varghese, President of All Kerala Caterers Association (AKCA), Joseph Kuriacose Director of Cruz Expos, Chef Ramu Butler Vice President of SICA Kerala Chapter, Chef Siddique, Chef George and Sumesh State Secretary of Kerala Professional Housekeepers Association.
The con-current events being held include the Kerala Culinary Challenge (KCC) 2019 which is being presented by SICA-Kerala Chapter and being held at the same venue. Chefs from hotels and resorts across Kerala are participating in the competitions held in ‘Display and Live’ cooking categories in the event. Individual artistic display will be held in Dress the Cake, Creative Dessert and Mocktails while live competitions are held in Hot Cooking Dish for Chicken, Fish, Rice Dish and authentic Kerala cuisine.In addition to these, another set of competitions, Housekeepers Challenge (HKC) Kerala, have also started on the sidelines in association with Kerala Professional Housekeeper's Association (KPHA). This competition is organized for the 3rd time in Kerala and Housekeepers from across the state are This year, competitions are held in categories including mop race, towel art, bed making, vacuum cleaning and flower bed arrangement.
