Let govt. face wrath: Vellappally Natesan

Natesan said Ezhavas as per their political ideology could take part in the ongoing protests and Yogam will not oppose it.

Alappuzha: Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that the government was deliberately drawing people's wrath on Sabarimala issue.

Speaking to reporters after the Yogam council meeting in Cherthala on Thursday, he said that the state government created the present protests as they earlier accepted all the demands of the upper caste people without any hesitation.

"So the government should face it,’’ he said. Mr Natesan said Ezhavas as per their political ideology could take part in the ongoing protests and Yogam will not oppose it.

"The state government ignored the backward class people. So they have to face the present protests," he said.
"Both the state and Union governments should make law for circumventing the SC verdict. We are standing by the devotees."

He said that the council had approved his stand that the verdict was disappointing and created polarisation in the society.

"However, the verdict is irrelevant as the Hindu women devotees between the age of 10 and 50 would not go there, and present protests will create only rebellion in the state," he said. "It's leaderless. So the SNDP Yogam is not ready to take part. If the matter of protests was discussed with all the Hindu organisations earlier, the Yogam might have come to the forefront."

Mr Natesan had a day before supported the state's stand strongly and slammed agitators, but his son and the Yogam vice-president Tushar Vellappally rejected it.
