Jamat-e-Islami Hind extends support on merit basis

The Jamat is analysing the performances of ruling parties since 1994.

Hyderabad: Jamat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) will extend its support to a political party based on its previous performances and commitment to governance in the future, its TS unit president Hamid Mohammed Khan said here on Thursday.

The Jamaat’s major demands are providing employment to the youth, crop insurance, police reforms and protection of Telangana culture, apart from a sub-plan for the minorities, reservation for Muslims proportionate to their population, strengthening of education and technical training system and civic facilities in areas where Muslims live in larger numbers.

The Jamat is analysing the performances of ruling parties since 1994. It will also scrutinise the credential of candidates of secular parties. It will prepare a report for the Central leadership, which will take a final decision on who to support, Mr Khan said after releasing the Jamat’s public manifesto here.

He said that the Jamat would involve itself actively in poll process without sharing the dais with any political party. The Jamaat would campaign on its own platform.

It is learnt that the Jamat will extend its support to all Muslim candidates of secular parties. In case there is more than one Muslim candidate in a constituency, it will go by the winning chances.
