Congress MLC's son to take on Anitha Kumaraswamy?

According to sources, former MLC, Ashwathnarayana too was considered by the party for Mandya, but he is not keen on contesting the poll.

Bengaluru: While the BJP has not finalised its candidate as yet for the Mandya Lok Sabha bypoll, party sources say state party president B.S.Yeddyurappa could take a call on it after discussing the matter with senior leaders R. Ashok and others.

Going by sources, the party could choose to field retired assistant commissioner of the commercial tax department, Dr Siddaramaiah, who has joined the BJP along with his supporters .

Not giving anything away, however, Mr Ashok merely said the BJP could benefit from the entry of Dr. Siddaramaiah in the coming bypoll as he had a good reputation in Mandya.

According to sources, former MLC, Ashwathnarayana too was considered by the party for Mandya, but he is not keen on contesting the poll. Meanwhile, the BJP state leadership has hinted that it could field Chandrashekar, son of MLC, C.M. Lingappa, who has left the Congress to join it, from the Ramanagara Assembly constituency against Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of the Chief Minister, who is likely to be fielded by the JD(S). Besides Mr Chandrashekar, nearly 25 other Congress leaders, including supporters of Mr Lingappa, and the son of another Congress leader, B. Doddaboregowda join the saffron party on Thursday.
