AP plans to control pollution along VCIC
Vijayawada: After being in the top position consecutively for two times in Ease of Doing Business, Andhra Pradesh has embarked on another journey to attain Ease of Living for the people in the state, as stated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and is taking up initiatives such as electric vehicles and solar power projects to mitigate pollution caused due to industrial and infrastructure development.
“To do so, the government of Andhra Pradesh began with Visakhapatnam and Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) by utilising Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund,” commissioner of industries Siddharth Jain said on Thursday.
According to the commissioner, the government is taking up activities that mitigate environmental impact due to projects involved in the infrastructure developm-ent activities for the corridor.
As per the Ease of Living standards laid down by the CM, it is necessary to have clean environment, healthy living alongside modern facilities and industrial development. Hence, reduction of emissions and production of electricity need to be done simultaneously.
To achieve this, the government of AP is taking up several solar power projects in the state and did the same in the context of infrastructure development as part of the VCIC.
To lessen the problems of high carbon pattern of growth, sustainable transport initiatives are necessary as well as renewable energy production.
