Chennai: Tamil Nadu Arasu Paniyalargal Sangam, an association of state government employees, has expressed dissatisfaction over the salary hike.
Jacto-Jeo coordinator A. Mayavan claimed that the secondary grade teachers had sought salaries on par with the Central government staff.
“There are many anomalies. We had thought that the government would rectify them. We will convene a meeting of the high level committee on Friday and decide on the hike,” he said.
According to R. Shanmugarajan of TN Government Officers Union the government should regularise those on consolidated pay. “Overall the hike in salaries has been marginal. We hope the government would provide the arrears with retrospective effect from 01.01.2016,” he added.
Noon-meal scheme, anganwadi workers also get wage revision
Wage revision benefits were also being extended to nutritious meal scheme workers, Anganwadi staff and village panchayat officers, he said. He also announced a 30 per cent hike for those employees receiving consolidated pay. The Cabinet also gave its nod to hike the retail price of liquor sold by state-run Tasmac. The move is expected to help generate Rs 5,000 crore additionally to the state exchequer.
