Members of Vijayawada Bar Association protest against attack on advocate

Vijayawada: The attack on a woman advocate, Venkata Ramani, in Vijayawada by rowdy-sheeter Siva and his gang on Tuesday has taken a new twist on Wednesday with the latter filing a counter complaint. The wife of one of the accused, Banka Ganesh, complained to the city police commissioner that the advocate had filed many false cases against her husband and others, which the High Court had ruled out.

Meanwhile, the advocate complained to the police that she was attacked allegedly by her relatives over a family dispute which has been continuing since long. She was attacked when she was alone at home. As a protest against the attack on the advocate, members of the Bar Association in Krishna district and Vijayawada abstained from attending courts on Wednesday.

Addressing the media, Durga Bhavani, wife of Ganesh, said even the police officials were supporting the advocate. “Even other advocates are supporting her without knowing the truth and this is not fair,” she said. Bhavani wanted the police to lift all the cases against her husband. A case was registered. She demanded to show her husband Ganesh and lift off all the false cases registered against him. The two town police registered the case and are investigating.
