BJP worker's death: CPM hits back, says saffron party started violence

Referring to killing of a CPI(M) worker in the state two days ago, Sitaram Yechury claimed the murder was carried out by RSS men.

New Delhi: Hitting back at BJP over its allegation that CPI(M) men murdered its functionary in Kerala, the Left party on Wednesday said the violence had been started by the RSS-BJP combine itself and blaming the state's ruling party is "total fabrication" of facts.

"This atmosphere of violence is being created by BJP and RSS in Kannur district...The violence has been started by the RSS and to blame the CPI(M) is total fabrication," CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said.

Referring to killing of a CPI(M) worker in the state two days ago, Yechury claimed the murder was carried out by RSS men. He also claimed seven Left workers have been killed in the state by RSS following Assembly polls earlier this year.

"So, they are creating this atmosphere of terror and tension," Yechury alleged.

Earlier today, 25-yesr-old BJP worker Prenith was hacked to death in Kannur's Pinarayi, the home town of Chief Minister

Pinarayi Vijayan, an incident which comes two days after the murder of CPI(M) activist.

Blaming "political goondas of the CPI(M)" for the murder, BJP demanded a CBI probe, saying it has no faith in the state police and the Left government.

Its spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao said the Left parties are "unnerved" in Kerala following the "successful" conclave of the BJP's National Council in the state recently.

He said the incidents of violence against the party workers are on the rise since the Left came to power because they see BJP as a major force.
