Suspend V-C, registrar of KU for torturing students: Etala

WARANGAL: Former minister and BJP MLA Etala Rajendar called on the student union leaders of Kakatiya University, who were subjected to third-degree torture by the police, and extended his support to the dharna staged by the KU-JAC on the premises of SDLCE in Hanamkonda on Monday.

He demanded the state government order an inquiry into the irregularities taking place in Kakatiya University and suspend vice-chancellor Prof. T. Ramesh and Registrar Srinivas Rao.

Demanding the V-C apologise to the students for torturing them using police force, Rajendar assured the protesting students of providing justice after the BJP formed the government in the state.

He stated that the BJP was extending its support for the district bandh call on September 12 given by the ABVP in a protest against the stubborn behaviour of the university V-C and the police action on the students.

Later in the day, the BJP MLA attended a booth-level party meeting held at Wardhannapet in Warangal district as the chief guest. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao reneged on his promises of double-bedroom houses, unemployment dole and pensions to those who crossed 57 years of age in the state.
Terming the BRS a family party, he alleged that fearing confrontation about their mistakes and hollow promises, the BRS government started muzzling the voice of BJP MLAs by cutting their mike in the House of Assembly.

Stating that the Congress was responsible for poverty in the country, Rajendar said everyone in Telangana was aware of which community would rule the state if Congress came to power. But, if BJP forms the government, the power will lie in the hands of downtrodden people. PM Narendra Modi is a good example of this. The BJP will provide Rythu Bandhu only to poor farmers and not to the rich. KCR, who is responsible for farmer suicide, neglected tenant farmers in the state, he alleged.
