WB, ADB teams in Alappuzha today

The team members will assess the situation in various sectors', said the district administration.

Alappuzha: World Bank and Asian Development Bank teams will visit the district on Wednesday to assess the flood situation. According to district administration, ten members out of 16-member team in Kerala will visit flood-affected areas in district from 10.30 am to 5.30pm. 'Apart from Alappuzha , they would also go to the flooded districts like Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Thrissur. The team members will assess the situation in various sectors', said the district administration.

Meanwhile, a team of professors from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi has also reached Alappuzha on Monday to study about the flood situation in Kuttanad . The team led by Prof. Amita Singh has visited various low-lying areas of Kuttanad. The team observed that the climate change was one of the main reasons for the unprecedented flood. The phenomenon of sudden receding of water from river basins and water streams in Kuttanad has also been subjected to study by the team.
