Telangana polls: MIM releases first list of candidates
HYDERABAD: All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen has released the first list of its candidates for 7 constituencies in the city retaining its 7 sitting MLAs. Only, the constituencies of party senior MLAs Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Mr. Syed Ahmad Pasha Quadri have been changed. MIM President and Hyderabad MP Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday released the list of 7 candidates including Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi (Chandrayangutta) Mr. Syed Ahmad Pasha Quadri (Yakutpura) Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Khan (Charminar) Mr. Mohd Moazzam Khan (Bahadurpura) Mr. Ahmad Bin Abdullah Balala (Malakpet) Mr. Jaffer Hussain Meraj (Nampally) and Mr. Kausar Mohiuddin (Karwan).
Interestingly the party has shifted Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Khan who was elected five times from Yakutpura segment to Charminar seat and sitting MLA of Charminar Mr. Pasha Quadri was allotted Yakutpura seat. Sources in the party revealed that the party is expecting the Congress to field its candidate in Charminar segment and to give a tough defeat to the Congress the MIM president has decided to shift the senior MLA in the party Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Khan to Charminar.
The MIM had contested 15 Assembly constituencies in the 2014 general elections in Telangana and it had retained its 7 constituencies in Hyderabad city but its candidates faced defeat in Jubilee Hills, Musheerabad, Rajendranagar, Sec-underabad, Amberpet, Uppal, Maheswaram and Nizamabad Urban constituencies in Telangana. Sources in MIM revealed that this time also the party has planned to field candidates from Jubilee Hills, Musheerabad, Rajendranagar, Secunderabad, Amberpet, Uppal, Maheswaram and Nizamabad Urban Assembly seats.
