Sexual abuse: Police may check Hostel register

The police was also initiating steps to record her statement before a magistrate court.

Thiruvananthapuram : The Museum police has sought the legislature secretary’s permission to examine the registers of the MLA hostel as part of the probe into the sexual abuse case against DYFI Thrissur local leader Jeevan Lal. The statement of the 23-year-old woman who raised the allegation was recorded by the police on Tuesday.

According to police sources, since the woman alleged that the DYFI leader abused her at the MLA hostel, the registers of the hostel need to be verified. Further action like taking the statement of Irinjalakuda MLA K.U. Arunan who allegedly arranged the stay at the MLA hostel would be taken afterwards.

The woman came to the city on Tuesday and gave a statement to the police regarding the incident. She stuck to her allegation against Jeevan Lal, said police sources.

The police was also initiating steps to record her statement before a magistrate court. The woman, hailing from Kattoor in Thrissur, alleged that Jeevan Lal offered to help her get a medical seat and took her to Thiruvanan-thapuram and sexually abused her at the MLA hostel. Though the case was earlier registered at Kattoor police station, it was later transferred to Museum.
