HDK govt trying to keep Datta Peeta issue alive: C T Ravi
Bengaluru: In the wake of the state government appointing a Mujawar for the Darga in Datta Peeta in Chikkamagaluru, BJP MLA C.T. Ravi has accused the government of trying to keep the controversy alive by not appointing a Hindu priest. Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr Ravi said that the issue would have been solved if the government had appointed a Hindu priest along with the Mujawar. The government should have sought the opinion of the Advocate General in this regard and filed an affidavit, he said.
Asserting that the BJP is not planning to bring down the coalition government, he however said the party will not let go any opportunity coming its way. Even people of the state want a BJP government here, he said. When asked about BJP MLA B. Sriramulu holding talks with Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, Mr Ravi quipped that when India and Pakistan can hold talks, why can’t BJP and Congress leaders?
Answering a question on Water Resources Minister Mr D.K. Shivakumar who is embroiled in a disproportionate assets case, he said if Mr Shivakumar is innocent, he would bounce back. “Why should he be scared if he is innocent? Only those who have violated the law should be scared,” he said.
