Bengaluru: LPG explodes in tea shop, 4 cops injured

According to the police, the got a message from control room about the fire and the policemen rushed to the shop.

Bengaluru: Panic gripped Madiwala on Monday late night after it was rocked by a LPG cylinder blast, which left four police personnel, attached to Madivala station, injured. Police said the accident took place when the policemen were trying to douse a fire.

A senior police official said that the suspected fire broke out at about 12 midnight due to the alleged leak of the LPG. The cylinder was locked inside a tea shop across the police station.

The injured have been identified as Sub-Inspector Halegegowda, head constables Shivshankar and Kumar, constable Sanjeev and home guard Sharanappa. They escaped with minor injuries and were rushed to St John's hospital, where they were treated as outpatients.

According to the police, the got a message from control room about the fire and the policemen rushed to the shop.

They along with other staff began to douse the fire with water, but the blaze soon engulfed the shop, leading to the explosion of LPG cylinder in the shop.

Due to the impact, four police personnel got thrown away and sustaining injuries.

The local residents rushed the injured to the hospital while the fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire.

The police have registered a case against the shop owner charging him under Section 285, 286 (negligence with explosive substances) and Section 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and begun investigation.
