DMK lists functionaries to take part in Neet protest
Chennai: While college students in the city boycotted their classes and protested on their campuses, political parties continued to charged the government with suppressing students protests, while gearing up for their agitations on September 13.
DMK working president released the list of party functionaries to take part in the protest demonstrations throughout the state and said he would lead the protest at Tambaram. Left leaders who demanded the state government to take steps for exempting Tamil Nadu from Neet, charged the AIADMK government with arresting students protesting against Neet, bowing to the demands of the BJP leaders and demanded the release of students and withdrawal of cases against them.
CPM state secretary G.Ramakrishnan said the school students in Nungambakkam and Perambur had been threatened by the corporation that they would expel them from the school and would not allow them to write examinations. Some of the girls had fainted and 14 students besides leaders of student unions had been imprisoned.
Instead of taking action to exempt the state from Neet, AIADMK (Amma) government was supporting the Centre's action. The state government should release the students and the leaders of student unions, besides withdrawing the cases against them, he said. The state government should take action to exempt Tamil Nadu from Neet and remove education from the concurrent list.
CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan too flayed the state government for arresting and imprisoning students protesting against Neet.
The BJP leaders who failed to respect the sentiments of the protesters are unable to accept their failure and threatening people not to agitate against them.
