Telangana: Eamcet-3 tougher than 1 and 2, says medical aspirants

The zoology and physics papers did not give many worries to students but the botany paper took a lot of time while chemistry was not easy.

Hyderabad: Medical aspirants found Eamcet-3 paper a shade tougher than the earlier entrance tests held this year.

Academic experts felt the paper lacked proper planning since a few questions were from outside the syllabus and there were no correct answers in the choices given for some others. About 66 per cent of applicants took the test on Sunday.

The zoology and physics papers did not give many worries to students but the botany paper took a lot of time while chemistry was not easy.

Pradeep, a student, told this newspaper that even better prepared students would secure four or five marks less when compared to Eamcet-2. Narender Reddy, senior lecturer at a private college, said that meritorious students finish botany and zoology papers within 45 minutes, chemistry in an hour and physics in one hour, 15 minutes of the stipulated three hours. However, botany paper took much of their time today and this will impact overall score, he said.

Experts said that questions in chemistry and botany were not from the syllabus, while there were no correct answer in the choices given for a few questions from physics and one from chemistry.

Asked about this, Eamcet-3 convener Prof.Yadaiah said questions were taken from Telugu Academy text books and those having objections can raise them before September 14. The preliminary key was released in the evening.

The attendance in Telangana state was 72 per cent while at AP centres it was 53 per cent. Of the 56,000 candidates who wrote Eamcet-2 exam, nearly 40,000 downloaded hall-tickets of which 37,199 took the exam, the convener said.

The entrance exam passed off smoothly without any problems, Mr Yadaiah told this newspaper. Two candidates, who could not reach the centre before the scheduled time of 10 am, were not allowed to write the exam.
