Vijayawada: A sub-inspector of police, Samandar Vali, was booked on charges of raping a woman at Addanki police station in Bapatla district on Thursday night.
The victim alleged that Vali raped her after sedating her after promising to marry her in October 2022. When she asked him to marry, he allegedly threatened to kill her.
Vali was already under suspension following a departmental inquiry on the same issue.
Based on the victim's complaint, the police booked a case against Vali and took up an investigation.
