Warangal: Fearing electoral reverses in the upcoming Assembly elections, the ruling BRS MLAs of the erstwhile Warangal district are conducting secret surveys in their respective constituencies by deploying private teams to know the pulse of the voters about the candidate and the party they want to support in the polls.
By preparing a separate questionnaire for the colony, village, mandal, district and constituency with voter lists, the MLAs have roped in youths to hold door-to-door surveys in their pocket boroughs.
Each member of the survey team with a payment of Rs 500 per day, covers at least 50 houses in the allotted colonies or villages in the constituency.
The questionnaire was on the performance of the incumbent MLA and the BRS government, which party they want to come to power next, local grievances and their priority for resolution, providing four options to answer.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle under the condition of anonymity, a member of a survey team which was working in the 12 Assembly segments of the erstwhile Warangal district, said that initially, they faced difficulty as the people were hesitant to respond. But, gradually, they began to express their opinions without any fear.
He revealed that the majority of the people were not happy with the performance of the MLAs in most of the constituencies except in three to four segments where the MLAs (including a Congress MLA) have strong support from the people. The voters alleged that the MLAs failed to resolve the issues like improper drainage systems, clean drinking water supply, standard roads and providing employment by bringing in companies and industries in their area, he added.
