Paddy crop to be raised in 3.28 lakh acres in Nagai
In a release here on Sunday, district collector Dr S. Suresh Kumar said under the direct sowing of Samba paddy crop would be done in 1.57 lakh acres.
Nagapattinam: Long-term paddy ‘Samba’ and ‘Thaladi’ paddy crops would be raised in 3.28 lakh acres across Nagapattinam district.
Of this, ‘Samba’ paddy crop would be raised in 2.36 lakh acres and ‘Thaladi’ crop in 92,000 acres.
In a release here on Sunday, district collector Dr S. Suresh Kumar said under the direct sowing of Samba paddy crop would be done in 1.57 lakh acres.
Since the Mettur reservoir is filling up fast, the farmers are requested to prepare themselves for direct showing of paddy seeds as well as to raise paddy nurseries.
He said adequate paddy seeds and other inputs are available in the district and farmers should utilize them.
