Hyderabad: Techie falls to death in lift shaft

The police registered a case of suspicious death for the probe.

Hyderabad: An engineering graduate who was doing his internship with an IT company at Madhapur was found dead under suspicious circumstances in an under-construction lift shaft on Saturday.

The police registered a case of suspicious death for the probe.

According to the Madhapur police, the victim was identified as Manoj Krishna Gadirajum, 20, a resident of Manikonda. Krishna, an engineer, had joined Keka Software Pvt Ltd located at Madhapur for his internship. His parents had moved to Chennai a few months ago.

On Saturday, Krishna was found dead on the ground in the under-construction lift shaft at about noon. Security personnel who noticed Krishna fallen on the ground alerted the police, who recovered the body and sent it for the postmortem examination at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary.

The police said that the victim was suspected to have fallen from the seventh floor.

“It is not yet clear if Manoj committed suicide or he fell in the shaft accidentally. An investigation is on to ascertain the reasons for his death,” said Madhapur sub-inspector Ram Mohan Reddy.

A case of suspicious death has been registered for further probe and the body was handed over to his family members on Sunday,” said Mr Ram Mohan Reddy.

Police is also inquiring into the condition of the lift shaft at the seventh floor and whether it was suitably barricaded.
