Hoax Macca Masjid bomb caller traced

Visitors were evacuated from the mosque.

HYDERABAD: Three days after the hoax bomb threat on the historical Macca Masjid, the police tracked down the suspects to Bengaluru. On Thursday evening, an unidentified individual had called up the Hussainialam police station and informed about a bomb planted in the mosque.

The police, along with the bomb squad, immediately swung into action and carried out anti-sabotage checks. The visitors were evacuated from the mosque as a precautionary measure. After a two-hour check the police declared it as a hoax.

The Hussainialam police, who registered a case, tracked down the caller to some place near Bengaluru and a special police team left to nab them. The call created panic in the mosque neighbourhood and the surrounding market.
