Telangana: Machines counted Nayeem's money

The Forum for Good Governance's appeal for a CBI probe into the case was rejected by the TS home department.

Hyderabad: An RTI reply revealed that the TS Special Investigation Team sleuths used two counting machines to count three bundles of Rs 1,000 notes worth Rs 3.7 lakh in gangster Nayeem's den after he was shot dead.

The Forum for Good Governance is asking why the SIT needed two counting machines for this small amount and wants to know the facts behind reports that huge bundles of cash were found in Nayeem’s den.

Retired IFS official M. Padmanabha Reddy said, “In the RTI reply from SIT they said in the raid conducted at Millenium Colony in Shadnagar 306 Rs 1,000 notes and 133 Rs 500 notes and 21 notes of Rs 100 and three notes of Rs 20 were found. So why do they need two counting machines for counting this which can be done manually.”

The Forum for Good Governance's appeal for a CBI probe into the case was rejected by the TS home department.

“They said they reopened eight closed cases which needed to be answered,” said Reddy.
