Chennai: Murasoli platinum jubilee meeting postponed
Chennai: The public meeting attended by major opposition leaders to mark the platinum jubilee of DMK organ ‘Murasoli’ was postponed due to heavy rains that poured in the city on Friday.
Rains started just ten minutes after the public meeting and the leaders were unable to stand in the dais due to the open stage. CPI senior leader R. Nallakannu released the Murasoli souvenir at the beginning of the function.
DMK principal secretary K. Duraimurugan welcomed the gathering with an assertion that the Dravidian movement could not be finished. Dravidar Kazhagam leader K. Veeramani too completed his speech in five minutes with a similar assertion.
By that time rains started pouring drenching the leaders on the dais as well as the thousands of cadres and public who had gathered at the YMCA ground in Nandanam. Stalin announced that the function would be held in another date in a grand manner.
