Hyderabad: Online services offered by the Road Transport Authority (RTA) have picked up steam. Over 80 per cent of the slots allotted to RTA offices in the state are being booked.
Over 19,000 slots have been given by officials since Wednesday compared to 5,000 on day one – August 2 – when the services commenced. This was followed by 8,000 and 12,000 slots in the subsequent days.
The slots will be increased as per demand, said sources. Motorists now want hourly slots to save time. Presently slots are being allotted for the day.
“There are some problems but at least we now know on which date we have to go,” said Mr Prateek Ghosh, a businessman.
The usual rush at RTA offices is missing and those coming after booking online slots are happy. “Only those getting online slots are coming,” said Ms Tejasvini Rao, a motorist.
“We will soon provide hourly or two-hourly slots once the system is streamlined. After 2 pm, officials are busy completing official works. They finish by 5 pm or 6 pm. But we will consider extending the timings,” said joint transport commissioner B. Venkateshwarlu.
