AP High Court defers R-5 zone hearing to July 17

Vijayawada: A three-judge bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court will hear on July 17 the batch of writ petitions on the AP government setting up an R-5 zone in Amaravati for providing house sites to the poor.

A division bench comprising Justices U. Durga Prasad and V. Jyothirmayi heard the case on Tuesday. It then decided to transfer the case to a three-member bench to take up further hearing.

Justices Durga Prasad and Jyothirmayi directed the High Court registry to place the case before the three-member judge bench for hearing on July 17.

In their petitions, farmers of Amaravati have contested the state government’s move to set up the R-5 zone, transfer lands to district collectors concerned and allot a cent of land to each beneficiary for constructing a house.
