Respite from heavy rains likely for three days in Telangana

Hyderabad recorded decreased rainfall on Monday even as cloudy skies persisted

Hyderabad: There might be some respite from rains for most of Telangana from today, as the weather authorities downgraded red alerts to orange and yellow alerts, except for three districts, for the next three days.

For Tuesday, a red alert was issued for Siddipet, Sangareddy and Medak, while an orange alert was issued for Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.
Hyderabad recorded decreased rainfall on Monday even as cloudy skies persisted. As of 8 pm, the highest rainfall recorded was 10 mm, at Kapra.

However, rains were expected to intensify overnight. In the state, Endapally in Jagtial recorded the highest rainfall, of 53.5 mm, followed by Mahadevpur in Jayashankar Bhupalpally (51.5 mm) and Venkatraopet in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad (51 mm). This was lower than the numbers recorded a day before, according to data from the Telangana state development planning society (TSDPS).

Meanwhile, multiple instances of breaches and damage to tanks, bunds, weirs and irrigation channels have been recorded. Mulugu, Mancherial, Nizamabad and Rajanna Sircilla accounted for 23 such incidents, with nine in bunds, eight in canals and three each in weirs and channels.
