Palamur women create Guinness World Record
Mahabubnagar: Palamur Zilla Mahila Samakhya (PZMS), a federation of women self-help groups (SHGs), has made its way into the Guinness Book of World Records at Mahbubnagar by arranging seed balls into the largest English sentence in this category on Monday.
The Guinness record sentence reads: "Two crore seed balls made and planted by SHG Women transform Mahabubnagar into Hetero Green Belt".
They set another record of preparing 2.08 crore seed balls, which will be used to grow plant species in wild areas, hill slopes, and forest lands. The seed balls, containing seeds of tamarind, custard apple, neem, banyan and gum-yielding wild trees, have been prepared in a record 10 days.
Rishinath, a representative of Guinness World Records, presented a certificate of achievement to PZMS in the presence of district collector S. Venkat Rao. Minister V. Srinivas Goud, Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar and Mahbubnagar MP Manne Srinivas Reddy were also present on the occasion.
Last year, the same SHG had received recognition from Wonder Book of Records for preparing 1.14 crore plant seed balls.
