Children, teenagers rush to hospitals with stomach problems in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Many children have been reporting to hospitals with pain in the abdomen, diarrhoea, vomiting and gastro-instestinal problems in the last one week here. Children's hospitals are seeing teenage boys and girls coming in with such problems.
Doctors said that after the unlocking process, there has been a lot of ‘eating out’ in social gatherings, parties and marriages, and some of these children could have picked up gastrointestinal problems.
Dr Altaf Naseem, senior pediatrician, said that during the lockdown people had completely given up on outside food. “They were not going out and nor were they indulging in outside food. After unlock, those who are venturing out and taking outside food are facing these problems.”
“Investigations show that they went out for parties or marriage and have fallen sick."
Another reason is the seasonal change with rains, floodingm and dry days. When it rains, there is flooding in parts of the city where drainage is not proper. This led to contamination of water bodies.
Dr B Narahari, senior pediatrician at Niloufer Hospital says: "Seasonal change is the major reason. There is nothing alarming about it. We see a large number of cases every year."
