Before dawn on Thursday, a 16-year-old, M. Sai Krishna, died in a road accident under Panjagutta police limits. The teenagers were reportedly riding triple-seat, with Krishna sitting in the middle.

According to the police, Krishna, a first-year intermediate student, and two friends of his had gone to attend a function. His friend Gogula Adhitya, 17, was riding the bike with Sai Krishna sitting in the middle and B. Prashanth sitting behind. The trio was travelling from a mall in Banjara Hills to Khairatabad along with other friends.

Around 3.40 am on Thursday as the trio was about to cross the Administrative Staff College building, Adhitya lost balance of the two-wheeler as a result of which, the trio fell off. A speeding heavy lorry which was approaching from behind them ran over Krishna as a result of which he sustained severe bleeding injuries. Adithya and Prashanth also sustained bleeding injuries from the fall.

Panjagutta sub-inspector of police B. Srinivasulu said, “The lorry ran over Sai Krishna and dragged him for a few metres before it braked at the Hanuman temple in Khairatabad. Their other friends and passersby rushed him to Osmania Hospital for treatment. Sai Krishna succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.”
