Bengaluru: Constable assaults senior
Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment to the police department, a police constable allegedly misbehaved with an assistant sub-inspector of police and pushed him around over a trivial row late on Tuesday night.
A senior police officer said that a departmental enquiry has been ordered into the incident, which took place near Arakere Gate, Mico Layout, in Southeast Bengaluru. It is said that Constable Chandra attached to Hulimavu police station, who was on night rounds, went to a hotel around 12.45 am and asked the manager to shut it. But the manager told him that the rule allowed hotels to remain open till 1 am. As he had not seen the constable earlier, the manager asked Chandru for his ID card. The policeman got angry and abused the manger, a police official said.
When a call was made to Mico Layout police station, the assistant sub-inspector arrived at the spot. When the ASI questioned Chandru, he allegedly pushed the senior officer around in public view, senior police officer said.
The matter was reported to the higher-ups, who have ordered a probe as the two police men are attached to two different jurisdictions.
