Statewide protest against Neet
Chennai: Political parties including DMK, Congress, VCK, CPM and CPI will participate in a statewide protest on Wednesday demanding the President’s assent to the Tamil Nadu bills seeking exemption from Neet.
The students’ wings of the parties had called for the boycott of schools and colleges on Wednesday.
Tamil Nadu Assembly had unanimously passed the two bills on January 31 seeking exemption from the common medical entrance test for UG and PG courses. The bills are pending with the ministry of home affairs for more than five months. leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin, TNCC president S.Thirunavukarasar, VCK leader Thol.Thriumavalavan, Dravidar Kazhagam leader K.Veeramani and CPI state secretary R.Mutharasan will take part in the protest in Chennai.
The other leaders of the parties will hold protests in all district headquarters of the state.
Doctors’ Association for Social Equality has also called for the statewide boycott of schools and colleges demanding the President’s assent.
Dr G.R. Ravindranath, the general secretary of the association, in a release on Tuesday urged the state government to exert more pressure on the central government for getting the President’s assent to the Neet bills.
He also urged the state government to pass the separate act like Andhra Pradesh for admitting the Tamil Nadu students alone in the super specialty courses.
