Gadgets explode over erratic power supply in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Low voltage, voltage fluctuations, blowouts and other such power problems have been plaguing people living in the twin cities. In East Maredpally on Monday night a transformer burnt out due to over load. Fans, TV and other electrical equipment in an apartment in Teachers’ colony were damaged as a result.
Both East and West Maredpally were plunged in darkness. Though power was restored almost immediately, fans and lights stopped working due to the low voltage.
Inmates of a hostel near Gokul restaurant in Maredpally said they have had no power since Monday night. A resident of Maredpally, Mr Tirupataiah, said he was injured when bulbs burst at night due to the voltage problem.
Chief general manager of Hyderabad Transco, U. Vidyasagar, said the problem was caused by a vehicle ramming into an electric pole carrying HT lines in Maredpally. He said that there is no system of paying compensation for damaged goods due to power problems.
